Google Admits to Pixel Battery “Meltdown” Following April Update

A new report from Forbes has highlighted a “severe impact” on Google Pixel devices following the latest April 2026 security patch. Users across Reddit and Google’s Issue Tracker report that devices from the Pixel 6 to the brand-new Pixel 10 are losing hours of battery life, even when idle.

Google has officially acknowledged the bug (Issue #395519809) and is currently collecting diagnostic data. The drain is so aggressive that some users report losing 20% of their battery while the phone is in Airplane Mode overnight.
