Smartphone Savvy: Digital Licenses Coming to the Govt.nz App

The Regulatory Systems (Transport) Amendment Bill has officially passed its third reading. This means digital driver’s licenses, warrants of fitness, and registration labels are legally cleared to go digital via the Govt.nz app.

While physical cards remain an option, the shift aims to save $16.8 million in annual postage costs. Don’t ditch your wallet yet—public consultation on the technical rollout is expected in the coming months.
