An Air New Zealand flight from Singapore was forced into emergency engineering checks after a lightning strike over Auckland. The incident added to a growing regional aviation crisis that saw 70 delays at Auckland Airport yesterday alone.

Travelers are warned of a “systemic crisis” across the Tasman, driven by a jet fuel shortage linked to Strait of Hormuz rerouting and post-Easter crew positioning failures. Over 4,000 flights have been disrupted in the first 16 days of April 2026.
