Vivo has officially announced the OriginOS 7 rollout timeline for India, and the first phones are scheduled to get the update from the end of October 2026. If you own a Vivo X300, X200, X100, V-series or T-series phone, here is exactly when your update is due, what the new version brings, and how to check for it on your phone.
OriginOS 7 is Vivo’s latest major software release, based on Android 17. Vivo now ships OriginOS on its phones globally – it replaced the older Funtouch OS – so this is the update coming to Vivo phones sold in India as well.
According to Vivo’s official product page, the headline changes include:
Vivo India’s official community post on October 9 published the phase-by-phase schedule for India. Here it is in full:
Two things to note. First, Vivo says this plan does not apply to carrier-exclusive models, which will be determined by each carrier. Second, within each window the update reaches users in batches, so two identical phones can get it days apart – that is normal, not a problem with your phone.
As of publication, Vivo has not given an exact start date inside the “end of October” window. If you own an X300-series phone or an X Fold5, it is worth checking manually over the coming days rather than assuming the update has already arrived – or worrying if a friend has it and you do not yet.
iQOO, Vivo’s sister brand, runs the same OriginOS software – but its official eligible-device list for OriginOS 7 has not been announced yet. What is confirmed: iQOO India ran a closed OriginOS 7 Preview Program for the iQOO 15, with registration open only from September 16-20 and just 500 slots. That window has closed. The beta status for other iQOO models has not been officially confirmed either way, so treat any “iQOO eligible devices” list you see online as unofficial until iQOO publishes its own. If you have an iQOO 15, expect it near the front of the queue; for everything else, watch iQOO’s official community channels.
On iQOO phones, the officially documented path is Settings > System Update. Vivo phones use a similar menu, though the exact wording and location can vary by model – look for “System update” inside Settings. Before you tap download:
Major Android version updates occasionally ship with early bugs that get ironed out in the first few weeks of patches. If your phone is your daily driver and you prefer stability, waiting a week or two after your model’s window opens is a sensible approach – watch what other owners of your model report. If you like trying new features first, the opening wave is for you. Either way, the normal rollout needs no registration: the update simply appears on your phone when your batch comes up.
One more tip: after a big update, it is normal for the phone to feel warm and drain faster for a day or so while apps and the system re-optimise in the background. That usually settles on its own.
Is OriginOS 7 the same as Android 17? OriginOS 7 is Vivo’s own software built on top of Android 17 – you get Android 17’s underlying improvements plus Vivo’s design and AI features on top.
Do I need to sign up or register anywhere? No. The stable rollout needs no registration. Registration was only for the closed beta programs (like the iQOO 15 Preview Program), which are separate from the normal update.
My phone is on the list but the window has passed with no update – why? Batch rollouts mean “end of October” can stretch into early November for some units. Carrier-exclusive models can also follow a different schedule set by the carrier. If weeks pass with nothing, Vivo India’s support (24×7 helpline and WhatsApp, linked from their support page) can check your specific unit.
Will the update wipe my data? Normal over-the-air updates keep your data. That said, backing up before any major version upgrade is good habit, not paranoia.
Where did the beta go? If you read guides about downloading the OriginOS 7 beta, note that India’s confirmed beta window (iQOO 15, September 16-20) has closed. The stable rollout above is now the relevant path for everyone else.
