Auckland’s central city is finally starting to look like a modern transit hub rather than a perpetual construction zone. The puzzle pieces around the upcoming Te Waihorotiu Station are connecting fast, with Auckland Council confirming that boots-on-the-ground testing for the City Rail Link (CRL) has ramped up significantly this week.

Crews are currently executing live emergency drills, evacuation scenarios, and full system integrations through the twin tunnels ahead of the official public launch in the second half of this year. Adding to the momentum, Watercare has officially wrapped up its massive 600-meter wastewater pipe project beneath Queen Street, allowing construction to finally begin on the ultimate section of the Te Hā Noa green walkway between Queen and Lorne Streets.
